Schmalz Elementary was recently named a Reward School for high-progress by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). As a high-progress school, Schmalz is one of 380 Title l schools in Texas that earned this designation for 2013-2014.

High-progress schools are identified as Title 1 schools in the top 25 percent in annual improvement and/or schools in the top 25 percent of those demonstrating the ability to close performance gaps based on system safeguards.
